Prayers of the Faithful for Masses during the Season of Creation
T
he Season of Creation is a sacred time of prayer and action, when Christians across the world renew their relationship with the Creator and with all of Creation. This year’s theme is drawn from the prophet Isaiah:
“The fortress will be abandoned, the noisy city deserted… until the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field… Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness abide in the fruitful field. The effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever” (Isaiah 32:14–18).
Isaiah paints a picture of devastated lands and broken cities, reminding us that when humanity breaks its covenant with God, Creation suffers as well. Yet he also points to hope: peace will return to the Earth when justice is restored.
To hope in the biblical sense does not mean to remain passive. It calls us to act, to pray, to repent (metanoia), to reconcile with Creation and the Creator, and to live in solidarity with all peoples and all beings. These Prayers of the Faithful are designed to help communities enter into this hope with courage and faith.
We warmly encourage pastors, liturgy teams, and communities to make use of these prayers in their Masses and liturgies, or to adapt them for their own contexts throughout the Season of Creation.
We also recommend celebrating the Mass for the Care of Creation, which was inaugurated by Pope Leo XIV during a special liturgy on July 9, 2025, with parts prayed in the ancient language of Latin. This Mass powerfully expresses the Church’s prayer for the healing of our common home.
All the prayers, together with additional resources, are published online at laudatosi.dev.
May these prayers lead us to deeper conversion, to active care for our common home, and to renewed hope in God’s promise of peace through justice.
